Janet is a force known to Boulder County’s movers and shakers. She has a resume that could paper a wall, including CFO and Managing Partner of OZ Architecture, one of Colorado’s largest architectural firms. She often worked 55-hour weeks and thrived in a field dominated by men. Janet was “Steadfast in the constant balancing act of guiding egotistical architects, for whom only the art of design mattered,” according to Robert S. West, Senior Partner of OZ. Under Janet’s leadership, OZ won the Boulder Chamber of Commerce’s Esprit Entrepreneur Award. During her tenure OZ was also named Firm of the Year by the Northern Colorado Chapter of the AIA. Janet now serves as a strategist for KGA Studio Architects, P.C., a firm specializing in residential housing.
Janet has offered years of service to the community. She regularly volunteers with Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, including serving as VP in 2015/16 and as Published Author Liaison in 2010. She chaired the non-profit Downtown Boulder, Inc. and sat on the Boulder Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. But after many successful years in business, Janet chose to focus on writing when she broke into the publishing industry with her debut novel, Soliloquy (The Wild Rose Press), which earned a HOLT Medallion Award of Merit. Her second book, Fogg in the Cockpit (Casemate), a military history she co-wrote with husband Richard, earned a coveted nomination by the Air Force Historical Society for best WWII book reviewed in Air Power History.
Janet and Richard are putting the final touches on A Manifest Spirit: The 359th Fighter Group, co-authored by Charlotte Baldridge. Janet also manages the 359th Fighter Group’s Facebook page, sharing stories and photos about the men.
Janet mentors other writers in the craft, assisting in story development and editing, and is a member of two critique groups. She’s also designed book covers, digital banners, and a myriad of book marketing materials. You can visit her YouTube channel for a glimpse of the book trailers and videos she’s designed.
On a personal note, Janet once participated in a successful rattlesnake hunt, has climbed two dozen of Colorado’s Fourteeners, was alternate on a winning trap-shooting team, and several years ago received her motorcycle license endorsement. She loves writing, hiking, bird watching, gardening, fun cars, cooking, and of course, reading.
